Potential Compensation Claims

Potential Issues Involving Enviva Revealed by Research Report

On October 12, 2022, an investment company called Blue Orca Capital issued a report that brought troubling accusations against Enviva and its control persons. The report alleges, among others, that Enviva is “flagrantly greenwashing its wood procurement”, and contrary to its representations, the company is allegedly “procuring substantial amounts of its wood from clear-cutting” a technique considered controversial and environmentally destructive.

According to the report, the practice of purchasing wood from clear-cut forests would cause Enviva to lose at least a part of its “environmentally conscious“ investors and allocators, and allegedly could negatively impact Enviva’s contract backlog and future customer demand.

The report further alleged that Enviva inflated its EBITDA by purchasing and capitalizing equipment, and then “actively” leasing it to loggers to obtain discounts on wood prices.

The report also raises concerns about Enviva’s alleged “troubling cashflows”, and “unsustainable divided.”
